How we approach skylight installation in Derry/Londonderry
For Derry/Londonderry homes and buildings we offer skylight installation: survey, supply and fit — new openings, extensions and fit-only work. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Northern Ireland has a mix of terraces, bungalows and rural farmhouses, and rooflights are a common upgrade when extending. In Derry/Londonderry, as anywhere, skylight installation is the usual choice for new extensions, new openings and fit-only jobs.
Derry/Londonderry is the main town we list in County Londonderry; we also cover nearby Strabane and Limavady.

Planning and building rules for Derry/Londonderry
In Northern Ireland, roof alterations come under Class B of the 2015 order: a rooflight facing a road must not project more than 15 cm and must sit at least 0.5 m from the ridge, eaves, verge and party wall. Listed buildings also need listed building consent from the council.
Technical Booklet F1 (2022) asks for replacement windows and rooflights in existing homes to reach WER Band C or a U-value of 1.6 W/m²K, assessed in the vertical position. New dwellings must average 1.40 W/m²K across windows, roof windows and rooflights.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.
