Skylight installation for Magherafelt: the essentials
Thinking about skylight installation in Magherafelt? The short answer: survey, supply and fit — new openings, extensions and fit-only work. The longer answer depends on your roof, which is why we survey before we price.
Bungalows are widespread in Northern Ireland, and sun tunnels or roof windows are an easy way to brighten internal hallways. Skylight installation suits new extensions, new openings and fit-only jobs.
Magherafelt sits about 15 km from Cookstown and 24 km from Coalisland, and we cover the whole BT45 postcode district and the roads in between.

Consents for skylight installation in Magherafelt
Northern Ireland's householder permitted development allows rooflights within limits — no more than 15 cm projection on road-facing slopes and a 0.5 m margin from ridge, eaves and party walls. Listed buildings also need listed building consent from the council.
Northern Ireland's energy rules assess rooflight U-values in the vertical position — unlike England and Wales — and expect 1.6 W/m²K or Band C for replacements. New dwellings must average 1.40 W/m²K across windows, roof windows and rooflights.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.
