Skylight installation in Hull: what is involved?
We handle skylight installation across the East Riding of Yorkshire, including Hull. In short: survey, supply and fit — new openings, extensions and fit-only work. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Converted barns and mills in Yorkshire often suit bespoke or ridge rooflights that follow the original structure. Typical uses for skylight installation include new extensions, new openings and fit-only jobs.
We cover all of Hull and the HU1 district, and nearby Beverley and Hornsea.

Do you need permission in Hull?
In England a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development under Class C if it projects no more than 150 mm beyond the roof slope and sits no higher than the ridge. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Building Regulations Approved Document L sets a limiting U-value of 2.2 W/m²K for new or replacement rooflights in existing homes, measured in the horizontal plane; roof windows need 1.4 W/m²K or a Band B energy rating. The Future Homes and Buildings Standards, published in March 2026, apply from 24 March 2027 and keep the 2.2 W/m²K limit for rooflights.
