Skylight installation in Pontypridd: what is involved?
Thinking about skylight installation in Pontypridd? The short answer: survey, supply and fit — new openings, extensions and fit-only work. The longer answer depends on your roof, which is why we survey before we price.
Wales sees a lot of wind-driven rain, particularly in the west, so upstand height and flashing laps matter more than anywhere. Think of skylight installation for new extensions, new openings and fit-only jobs.
Pontypridd sits about 8 km from Tonypandy and 9 km from Caerphilly, and we cover the whole CF37 postcode district and the roads in between.

Consents for skylight installation in Pontypridd
Welsh householder permitted development (Class C) allows rooflights that project no more than 15 cm and sit no higher than the existing roof — but not in conservation areas, National Parks, AONBs or World Heritage Sites. Listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, and flats have no householder permitted development rights.
In Wales the limiting values are 2.2 W/m²K for a rooflight and 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B) for a roof window in an existing house. A revised Welsh Approved Document L takes effect on 4 March 2027; rooflights in new dwellings stay at 2.2 W/m²K.

Skylight installation in Pontypridd: questions
Do you work with builders?
Yes — on new extensions we fit to the builder's programme once the upstand or roof is ready.
Who handles building control?
We tell you which route applies — building control approval, a building warrant in Scotland, or in England and Wales self-certification by a registered competent person — and supply the product data.
Do you fit rooflights bought elsewhere?
Yes. We check the product and the opening first, and our workmanship terms cover the fitting rather than the product.
Is the survey in Pontypridd free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
How do I book a survey in Pontypridd?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
