Bespoke & shaped rooflights in Bicester: what is involved?
For Bicester homes and buildings we offer bespoke & shaped rooflights: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Orangery-style extensions with lanterns are popular across the South East, and solar-control glass makes a big difference on south-facing gardens. Think of bespoke & shaped rooflights for openings that standard sizes do not fit.
Bicester sits about 18 km from Oxford and 22 km from Banbury, and we cover the whole OX26 postcode district and the roads in between.
Specification options
- Solar-control and low-iron glass
- Sloped or monopitch rooflights
- Multi-pane butt-jointed runs
- Corner and wrap-around glazing
- Concealed or slim frames
- Drawing sign-off before order
- Glass shaped to the architecture
What to check first
- Large panes need a lifting plan
- Longer lead times and no returns on made-to-measure glass
Do you need permission in Bicester?
English householder permitted development (Class C) normally covers rooflights that stand no more than 0.15 m proud of the roof plane and stay below the highest part of the roof. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Under Approved Document L, a rooflight added to an English home must achieve at least 2.2 W/m²K (horizontal plane), and a roof window 1.4 W/m²K or Window Energy Rating Band B. Replacing a rooflight or roof window can be self-certified by an installer registered with an authorised competent person scheme; otherwise building control approval is needed.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.
