Bespoke & shaped rooflights for Witney: the essentials
Our bespoke & shaped rooflights service in Witney covers triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Many South East homes have been extended more than once, and an old dome over an earlier extension is often due for replacement. Bespoke & shaped rooflights suit openings that standard sizes do not fit.
Jobs in Witney are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.
Choices for your Witney project
- Concealed or slim frames
- Triangular and trapezoid panes
- Solar-control and low-iron glass
- Corner and wrap-around glazing
- Multi-pane butt-jointed runs
- Corner, slope and multi-pane runs
- Drawing sign-off before order
Things we check at survey
- Large panes need a lifting plan
- Precise survey and template may be needed
Do you need permission in Witney?
English householder permitted development (Class C) normally covers rooflights that stand no more than 0.15 m proud of the roof plane and stay below the highest part of the roof. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Under Approved Document L, a rooflight added to an English home must achieve at least 2.2 W/m²K (horizontal plane), and a roof window 1.4 W/m²K or Window Energy Rating Band B. The Future Homes and Buildings Standards, published in March 2026, apply from 24 March 2027 and keep the 2.2 W/m²K limit for rooflights.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Questions about bespoke & shaped rooflights in Witney
Can any shape be made?
Most straight-edged shapes can be made in glass, within the manufacturer's size and angle limits. Curved glass is possible but specialist.
Will a shaped rooflight leak more?
Not if detailed properly — corners and junctions just need more care.
Why does bespoke take longer?
Each unit is drawn, checked and manufactured to order.
Will I need planning permission in Witney?
Most rooflights on English houses do not need planning permission, provided they keep within 150 mm of the roof surface and below the ridge line.
Can you work alongside my builder in Witney?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
