What do dome rooflights in Rhyl involve?
For Rhyl homes and buildings we offer dome rooflights: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Wales sees a lot of wind-driven rain, particularly in the west, so upstand height and flashing laps matter more than anywhere. In Rhyl, as anywhere, dome rooflights are the usual choice for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
We work across Clwyd, including Rhyl, and in neighbouring towns such as Colwyn Bay and Flint. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.
Options we can specify in Rhyl
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Light, impact-resistant domes
- Low cost per unit
Things we check at survey
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
Regulations for dome rooflights in Rhyl
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For non-domestic buildings in Wales, Approved Document L sets limiting U-values for rooflights and roof ventilators; we supply the manufacturer's data for the building control submission. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Questions about dome rooflights in Rhyl
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Can you work alongside my builder in Rhyl?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Rhyl?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Rhyl and across Clwyd. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
