How we approach dome rooflights in Keswick
We handle dome rooflights across Cumbria, including Keswick. In short: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
The North West gets more rain than most of England, so upstand height, membrane detailing and rain sensors on opening units are not optional extras. In Keswick, as anywhere, dome rooflights are the usual choice for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
Jobs in Keswick are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.
Choices for your Keswick project
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Light, impact-resistant domes
- Low cost per unit
What to check first
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
- Plastic domes have a lower acoustic and thermal performance than glass
Building control and safety duties in Keswick
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
Our planning guide covers each nation in more detail.

Dome rooflights in Keswick: questions
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Do domes leak?
Leaks are usually at the upstand seal or the membrane. Replacing the dome and resealing often fixes it.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Keswick?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Keswick and across Cumbria. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
Can you work alongside my builder in Keswick?
Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
