Dome rooflights for Ulverston: the essentials
For Ulverston homes and buildings we offer dome rooflights: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Converted mills and warehouses in the North West often have large rooflights or glass roofs that need specialist replacement. Think of dome rooflights for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
We work across Cumbria, including Ulverston, and in neighbouring towns such as Barrow-in-Furness and Morecambe. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.
What you can choose
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Light, impact-resistant domes
- Quick replacement on existing upstands
Before you order: points to check
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
- Plastic domes have a lower acoustic and thermal performance than glass
Rules and responsibilities in Ulverston
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Ulverston?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
How do I book a survey in Ulverston?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
