What do dome rooflights in Halesowen involve?
For Halesowen homes and buildings we offer dome rooflights: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Industrial and commercial units around Midlands towns often still have their original rooflight sheets, which are due for replacement. Dome rooflights suit older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
We work across the West Midlands, including Halesowen, and in neighbouring towns such as Brierley Hill and Dudley. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.
Options we can specify in Halesowen
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Smoke-vent versions available
- Low cost per unit
Before you order: points to check
- Plastic domes have a lower acoustic and thermal performance than glass
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
Regulations for dome rooflights in Halesowen
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For buildings other than dwellings, Approved Document L Volume 2 sets limiting U-values of 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights and 3.0 W/m²K for roof ventilators, including smoke vents. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Dome rooflights in Halesowen: questions
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Do domes leak?
Leaks are usually at the upstand seal or the membrane. Replacing the dome and resealing often fixes it.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Halesowen?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Halesowen?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Halesowen and across the West Midlands. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
