How we approach ridge & pitched glass roofs in Llanelli
For Llanelli homes and buildings we offer ridge & pitched glass roofs: dual-pitch glazed roofs for side returns, links and long extensions. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Many Welsh homes have older single-storey rear extensions where a glass rooflight brightens a dark kitchen. Think of ridge & pitched glass roofs for side returns, links and long extensions.
Llanelli is the main town we list in Dyfed; we also cover nearby Gorseinon and Swansea.
What you can choose
- Opening vents and electric actuators
- Dual-pitch or mono-pitch
- Solar-control, self-cleaning or tinted glass
- Integrated gutters and box gutters
- Aluminium systems in standard and RAL colours
- Solar-control glass for south-facing slopes
- Works with exposed brick and period detail
What to check first
- Junctions with existing walls need lead or flashing detail
- Overheating is a real risk on south-facing glass roofs
Do you need permission in Llanelli?
Planning rules in Wales are tighter than in England for rooflights: Class C rights do not apply in conservation areas, National Parks or AONBs, so a rooflight there needs planning permission. A side-facing rooflight within 10.5 m of the boundary must be obscure-glazed, and non-opening unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Approved Document L in Wales (2022 edition) sets 2.2 W/m²K for rooflights, measured horizontally, and 1.4 W/m²K or Band B for roof windows in existing homes. Wales also has its own overheating rules (Part O) for new homes, in force since November 2022.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Without care, it can be. Solar-control glass, an opening vent at the top and a blind make a south-facing glass roof comfortable.

Yes, top-hung vents with electric actuators are common, often with a rain sensor.
Do I need a party wall agreement?
If the work affects a party wall or boundary, the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 may apply in England and Wales. We flag this at survey so you can serve notice in time.
