Roof lanterns for Lisburn: the essentials
Our roof lanterns service in Lisburn covers hipped glass lanterns that lift the ceiling of orangeries and extensions. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Wind and rain off the Atlantic make upstand and flashing details important on Northern Irish roofs. Roof lanterns suit rooms that need height as well as light.
Lisburn is around 11 km from Belfast, and we survey and fit throughout that part of County Antrim, including the BT27 district.

Consents for roof lanterns in Lisburn
In Northern Ireland, roof alterations come under Class B of the 2015 order: a rooflight facing a road must not project more than 15 cm and must sit at least 0.5 m from the ridge, eaves, verge and party wall. A side-facing window within 15 m of a neighbouring boundary must be obscure-glazed, and non-opening unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
Northern Ireland's energy rules assess rooflight U-values in the vertical position — unlike England and Wales — and expect 1.6 W/m²K or Band C for replacements. Extensions follow a 25% glazing allowance in Technical Booklet F1.

Questions about roof lanterns in Lisburn
Roof lantern or flat rooflight?
A lantern adds height and sky from all sides; a flat rooflight is lower-profile and cleaner from outside. Our guide compares them in detail.
Do they leak?
Modern lanterns are sealed systems. Leaks usually trace back to the kerb or roof membrane detail, which we form and check ourselves.
How big can a lantern be?
Aluminium systems go to around three by six metres in standard ranges; larger sizes are made to order.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Lisburn?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
Do you fit roof lanterns in Lisburn?
Yes. We survey and fit roof lanterns in Lisburn and across County Antrim. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
