What do pitched roof windows in Magherafelt involve?
For Magherafelt homes and buildings we offer pitched roof windows: centre-pivot and top-hung skylights for tiled and slate roofs. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Bungalows are widespread in Northern Ireland, and sun tunnels or roof windows are an easy way to brighten internal hallways. In Magherafelt, as anywhere, pitched roof windows are the usual choice for lofts, attic rooms, landings and vaulted ceilings.
Magherafelt sits about 15 km from Cookstown and 24 km from Coalisland, and we cover the whole BT45 postcode district and the roads in between.

Planning and building rules for Magherafelt
In Northern Ireland, roof alterations come under Class B of the 2015 order: a rooflight facing a road must not project more than 15 cm and must sit at least 0.5 m from the ridge, eaves, verge and party wall. Listed buildings also need listed building consent from the council.
For homes in Northern Ireland, Technical Booklet F1 sets 1.6 W/m²K (or WER Band C) for replacement glazing including rooflights. Extensions follow a 25% glazing allowance in Technical Booklet F1.

Questions about pitched roof windows in Magherafelt
Do I need planning permission for a roof window?
Often not, under householder permitted development, provided it does not project too far above the roof plane and conditions are met. Listed buildings, flats and some conservation areas are different. Our planning guide covers each nation.
Can roof windows be electric?
Yes — electric and solar-powered models open by remote and many include rain sensors.
Centre-pivot or top-hung?
Centre-pivot windows are easy to clean and suit most rooms. Top-hung windows open out from the top for an unobstructed view and suit lower roof pitches near eye level.
Do you fit pitched roof windows in Magherafelt?
Yes. We survey and fit pitched roof windows in Magherafelt and across County Londonderry. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.

Yes. On new extensions we fit once the opening and upstand are ready and coordinate dates with your builder.
