How we approach bespoke & shaped rooflights in Caerphilly
We handle bespoke & shaped rooflights across Gwent, including Caerphilly. In short: triangular, angled, curved and multi-pane rooflights made to measure. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Wales sees a lot of wind-driven rain, particularly in the west, so upstand height and flashing laps matter more than anywhere. Think of bespoke & shaped rooflights for openings that standard sizes do not fit.
Jobs in Caerphilly are planned around access: whether the roof can be reached from the garden, whether a hoist or crane is needed, and where we can park. We check this when we measure.
Choices for your Caerphilly project
- Sloped or monopitch rooflights
- Multi-pane butt-jointed runs
- Solar-control and low-iron glass
- Corner and wrap-around glazing
- Triangular and trapezoid panes
- Drawing sign-off before order
- Matching solar and thermal performance
Things we check at survey
- Precise survey and template may be needed
- Large panes need a lifting plan
Consents for bespoke & shaped rooflights in Caerphilly
Welsh householder permitted development (Class C) allows rooflights that project no more than 15 cm and sit no higher than the existing roof — but not in conservation areas, National Parks, AONBs or World Heritage Sites. A side-facing rooflight within 10.5 m of the boundary must be obscure-glazed, and non-opening unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
In Wales the limiting values are 2.2 W/m²K for a rooflight and 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B) for a roof window in an existing house. Wales also has its own overheating rules (Part O) for new homes, in force since November 2022.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Questions about bespoke & shaped rooflights in Caerphilly
Can bespoke units open?
Some can. Shaped glass is usually fixed, combined with a standard opening unit elsewhere.
Will a shaped rooflight leak more?
Not if detailed properly — corners and junctions just need more care.
Can I cancel a bespoke order?
Made-to-measure goods are excluded from the statutory 14-day cancellation right. As a goodwill gesture you can cancel without charge until we place the order with the manufacturer, and we tell you in writing when that happens.
How do I book a survey in Caerphilly?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
Will I need planning permission in Caerphilly?
In Wales a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development if it stands no more than 15 cm proud of the roof, except on protected land such as conservation areas and National Parks, where permission is needed.
