Dome rooflights in Caerphilly: what is involved?
Dome rooflights in Caerphilly means polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We cover the CF83 district and the rest of Gwent, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Wales sees a lot of wind-driven rain, particularly in the west, so upstand height and flashing laps matter more than anywhere. Typical uses for dome rooflights include schools, flats and commercial flat roofs.
We work across Gwent, including Caerphilly, and in neighbouring towns such as Risca and Pontypridd. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.
Specification options

What to check first
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
Building control and safety duties in Caerphilly
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For non-domestic buildings in Wales, Approved Document L sets limiting U-values for rooflights and roof ventilators; we supply the manufacturer's data for the building control submission. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.

Questions about dome rooflights in Caerphilly
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Caerphilly?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
How do I book a survey in Caerphilly?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
