Dome rooflights for Risca: the essentials
Dome rooflights in Risca means polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We cover the NP11 district and the rest of Gwent, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Many Welsh homes have older single-storey rear extensions where a glass rooflight brightens a dark kitchen. In Risca, as anywhere, dome rooflights are the usual choice for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
Risca sits about 7 km from Newport, Gwent and 7 km from Cwmbran, and we cover the whole NP11 postcode district and the roads in between.
Choices for your Risca project
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Suits schools, flats and commercial roofs
- Smoke-vent versions available
Things we check at survey
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
Regulations for dome rooflights in Risca
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For non-domestic buildings in Wales, Approved Document L sets limiting U-values for rooflights and roof ventilators; we supply the manufacturer's data for the building control submission. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.
Our planning guide covers each nation in more detail.

Questions about dome rooflights in Risca
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Risca?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Risca and across Gwent. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
How do I book a survey in Risca?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
