How we approach dome rooflights in Newport, Gwent
Thinking about dome rooflights in Newport, Gwent? The short answer: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The longer answer depends on your roof, which is why we survey before we price.
Wales sees a lot of wind-driven rain, particularly in the west, so upstand height and flashing laps matter more than anywhere. Typical uses for dome rooflights include schools, flats and commercial flat roofs.
We cover all of Newport, Gwent and the NP10 district, and nearby Risca and Cwmbran.
What you can choose

Things we check at survey
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
- Plastic domes have a lower acoustic and thermal performance than glass
Building control and safety duties in Newport, Gwent
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. Product data for building control is supplied with every quote.
For non-domestic buildings in Wales, Approved Document L sets limiting U-values for rooflights and roof ventilators; we supply the manufacturer's data for the building control submission. Fire classification of rooflight materials near boundaries is checked at specification.
Our planning guide covers each nation in more detail.

Questions about dome rooflights in Newport, Gwent
Are domes safe to walk on?
No. Treat any rooflight as fragile unless it is specifically certified non-fragile, and never stand on it.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Newport, Gwent?
