Dome rooflights for Pontypool: the essentials
For Pontypool homes and buildings we offer dome rooflights: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. We measure first, specify to the opening and confirm any planning or building-control points before quoting.
Slate roofs, stone cottages and terraced valleys are typical across Wales, and slim rooflights that sit low in the slates suit them best. In Pontypool, as anywhere, dome rooflights are the usual choice for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
From Pontypool to Cwmbran, Risca and Newport, Gwent, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.
Options we can specify in Pontypool
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Fixed or hinged with vent
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Fixed, hinged or vented options
- Light, impact-resistant domes
Before you order: points to check
- Plastic domes have a lower acoustic and thermal performance than glass
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
Rules and responsibilities in Pontypool
For non-domestic buildings, planning depends on the building and its location; building regulations cover thermal performance and the fire classification of rooflights near boundaries. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For non-domestic buildings in Wales, Approved Document L sets limiting U-values for rooflights and roof ventilators; we supply the manufacturer's data for the building control submission. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.
Read the planning permission guide before you commit to a design.

Common questions
Can you replace just the dome?
Yes, if the upstand is sound and the size matches. Otherwise we replace both.
Why has my dome gone yellow?
UV breaks down older plastics over time. Modern domes have UV-protective layers, but all plastics age.
Do domes leak?
Leaks are usually at the upstand seal or the membrane. Replacing the dome and resealing often fixes it.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Pontypool?
Yes. We survey and fit dome rooflights in Pontypool and across Gwent. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
Do I need to be at home for the survey in Pontypool?
Yes — someone needs to let us into the room below and, where possible, show us how the roof is reached.
