How we approach dome rooflights in Ebbw Vale
We handle dome rooflights across Gwent, including Ebbw Vale. In short: polycarbonate and acrylic domes for flat roofs, new or replacement. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Wales sees a lot of wind-driven rain, particularly in the west, so upstand height and flashing laps matter more than anywhere. In Ebbw Vale, as anywhere, dome rooflights are the usual choice for older flat roofs with yellowed or leaking domes.
Ebbw Vale is around 26 km from Newport, Gwent, and we survey and fit throughout that part of Gwent, including the NP23 district.
Choices for your Ebbw Vale project
- Clear, opal or tinted
- Polycarbonate or acrylic
- Twin, triple or quad skin
- Insulated PVC or GRP upstands
- Fall-through protection mesh
- Smoke-vent versions available
- Low cost per unit
Things we check at survey
- Fire classification matters on some roofs
- Upstand condition decides whether you replace dome only or the whole unit
Building control and safety duties in Ebbw Vale
On commercial roofs the main questions are usually building control, fire classification of rooflight materials and safe access rather than householder permitted development. We confirm the route for your building before ordering.
For non-domestic buildings in Wales, Approved Document L sets limiting U-values for rooflights and roof ventilators; we supply the manufacturer's data for the building control submission. Fragile-roof safety and access are planned before work starts.

Questions about dome rooflights in Ebbw Vale
Should I replace a dome or switch to glass?
A dome is cheaper and quick; glass gives a clear view and better performance. On a tight budget, or a commercial roof with many units, domes remain sensible.
Can domes open?
Hinged and vented domes are available, manual or electric.
Do domes leak?
Leaks are usually at the upstand seal or the membrane. Replacing the dome and resealing often fixes it.
Do you fit dome rooflights in Ebbw Vale?
