Frameless structural rooflights in Carmarthen: what is involved?
Our frameless structural rooflights service in Carmarthen covers minimal glass rooflights with no visible frame from inside. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Many Welsh homes have older single-storey rear extensions where a glass rooflight brightens a dark kitchen. Think of frameless structural rooflights for rooms where you want sky without a visible frame.
We work across Dyfed, including Carmarthen, and in neighbouring towns such as Llanelli and Ammanford. Access, parking and how the glass reaches the roof are all checked at the survey.
What you can choose
- Butt-jointed runs for long openings
- Shadow-gap or plastered reveal
- Triple glazing
- Low-iron extra-clear glass
- Solar-control coatings
- Double or triple glazed structural units
- Clean modern detail for architect-led schemes
What to check first
- The internal finish (plaster, shadow gap) is agreed before order
- Large panes need lifting gear and access planning
Planning, building control and Carmarthen
In Wales a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development if it stands no more than 15 cm proud of the roof, except on protected land such as conservation areas and National Parks, where permission is needed. Listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, and flats have no householder permitted development rights.
Welsh Building Regulations expect new or replacement rooflights to reach 2.2 W/m²K and roof windows 1.4 W/m²K or a Band B rating. A revised Welsh Approved Document L takes effect on 4 March 2027; rooflights in new dwellings stay at 2.2 W/m²K.

Common questions
Can a frameless rooflight be walked on?
Only if it is specified as a walk-on unit. Most frameless rooflights are for light only.
Can it open?
Some frameless designs include a sliding or hinged opening element, but most are fixed. Pair with an opening unit if you need ventilation.
How is it lifted onto the roof?
Larger panes go up with a vacuum lifter, a hoist or a crane. We plan access at survey.
How do I book a survey in Carmarthen?
Send your postcode and, if you can, a photo of the roof and the room. We offer a survey date when we reply.
Is the survey in Carmarthen free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
