Pitched roof windows for Abergavenny: the essentials
We handle pitched roof windows across Gwent, including Abergavenny. In short: centre-pivot and top-hung skylights for tiled and slate roofs. The survey checks structure, weathering and orientation, so the quote reflects your actual roof.
Chapels, barns and farm buildings converted across Wales often need bespoke or conservation-style glass. Typical uses for pitched roof windows include pitched roofs over bedrooms, stairs and bathrooms.
Abergavenny is around 26 km from Newport, Gwent, and we survey and fit throughout that part of Gwent, including the NP7 district.

Planning and building rules for Abergavenny
Welsh householder permitted development (Class C) allows rooflights that project no more than 15 cm and sit no higher than the existing roof — but not in conservation areas, National Parks, AONBs or World Heritage Sites. Listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, and flats have no householder permitted development rights.
In Wales the limiting values are 2.2 W/m²K for a rooflight and 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B) for a roof window in an existing house. Wales also has its own overheating rules (Part O) for new homes, in force since November 2022.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Pitched roof windows in Abergavenny: questions
Centre-pivot or top-hung?
Centre-pivot windows are easy to clean and suit most rooms. Top-hung windows open out from the top for an unobstructed view and suit lower roof pitches near eye level.
Can a roof window be fitted from inside?
In most cases, yes — only the tiles around the opening are lifted, and much of the work is done from inside the loft.
Can roof windows be electric?
Yes — electric and solar-powered models open by remote and many include rain sensors.
Will I need planning permission in Abergavenny?
In Wales a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development if it stands no more than 15 cm proud of the roof, except on protected land such as conservation areas and National Parks, where permission is needed.
Do you fit pitched roof windows in Abergavenny?
Yes. We survey and fit pitched roof windows in Abergavenny and across Gwent. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
