What does skylight installation in Rugby involve?
Our skylight installation service in Rugby covers survey, supply and fit — new openings, extensions and fit-only work. Every job starts with a survey of the opening, the roof covering and the room below, and a fixed written price.
Many Midlands semis have had a single-storey rear extension added, and a larger flat rooflight or lantern is often the change that makes it feel finished. Skylight installation suits builders' projects and retrofits into finished roofs.
Neighbouring towns include Daventry (14 km) and Coventry (17 km). We offer a survey date when we reply to your enquiry.

Planning, building control and Rugby
Most rooflights on English houses do not need planning permission, provided they keep within 150 mm of the roof surface and below the ridge line. A rooflight on a side-facing slope must be obscure-glazed, and fixed shut unless the opening part is more than 1.7 m above the floor.
For English homes the energy rules ask for rooflights of 2.2 W/m²K or better and roof windows of 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B); most modern double glazed units meet both. The Future Homes and Buildings Standards, published in March 2026, apply from 24 March 2027 and keep the 2.2 W/m²K limit for rooflights.
Our planning guide covers each nation in more detail.
Guide prices for Rugby
These are typical supply-and-fit ranges. For an address in Rugby, scaffold, a hoist for heavy glass, or a new structural opening can move the figure, which is why we survey first.

| Supply and fit into a new extension Typical | £1,435 – £3,595 | £1,195 – £2,995 |
| Fit only, customer-supplied unit | £595 – £1,195 | £495 – £995 |
The process, step by step
- Tell us what you have. Send the CV21 postcode, a rough size and a couple of photos.
- Measure and check. A surveyor visits Rugby, measures and checks structure and access.
- Written price. You receive a fixed price listing the unit, the work and the lead time.
- Fit and make good. We fit, seal, test and finish the reveal, then hand over the paperwork.

Common questions
Do I need a structural engineer?
For new openings that cut joists or rafters, a structural check is sensible and building control may ask for calculations.
How long does installation take?
Fitting into a prepared upstand takes about a day. A new opening in an existing roof, including making good, often takes two to three days.
Who handles building control?
We tell you which route applies — building control approval, a building warrant in Scotland, or in England and Wales self-certification by a registered competent person — and supply the product data.
Will I need planning permission in Rugby?
In England a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development under Class C if it projects no more than 150 mm beyond the roof slope and sits no higher than the ridge.
Do you offer skylight installation in Rugby?
Yes. We carry out skylight installation in Rugby and across Warwickshire. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
