What do pitched roof windows in Brecon involve?
Pitched roof windows in Brecon means centre-pivot and top-hung skylights for tiled and slate roofs. We cover the LD3 district and the rest of Powys, with a survey before any price is fixed.
Chapels, barns and farm buildings converted across Wales often need bespoke or conservation-style glass. Typical uses for pitched roof windows include pitched roofs over bedrooms, stairs and bathrooms.
From Brecon to Merthyr Tydfil, Ebbw Vale and Aberdare, the same survey-first process applies: measure, specify, fix the price, then fit.

Planning, building control and Brecon
In Wales a rooflight on a house is usually permitted development if it stands no more than 15 cm proud of the roof, except on protected land such as conservation areas and National Parks, where permission is needed. Listed buildings need listed building consent from the council, and flats have no householder permitted development rights.
In Wales the limiting values are 2.2 W/m²K for a rooflight and 1.4 W/m²K (or WER Band B) for a roof window in an existing house. Wales also has its own overheating rules (Part O) for new homes, in force since November 2022.
See our building regulations guide for U-values, glazing limits and self-certification.

Common questions
Do I need planning permission for a roof window?
Often not, under householder permitted development, provided it does not project too far above the roof plane and conditions are met. Listed buildings, flats and some conservation areas are different. Our planning guide covers each nation.
Can roof windows be electric?
Yes — electric and solar-powered models open by remote and many include rain sensors.
Centre-pivot or top-hung?
Centre-pivot windows are easy to clean and suit most rooms. Top-hung windows open out from the top for an unobstructed view and suit lower roof pitches near eye level.
Is the survey in Brecon free?
Yes for new installations. Repair visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we book.
Do you fit pitched roof windows in Brecon?
Yes. We survey and fit pitched roof windows in Brecon and across Powys. Send your postcode and we will offer a survey date when we reply.
